Joy Ride Bio
Gypsy
Joy Ride was founded in
the fall of 2000 by multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter
and educator Steve Grandinetti after his move from the east
coast to Port Townsend, Washington. Grandinetti has remained
at the center of the wheel as Gypsy Joy Ride morphed from
a trio
(Grandinetti- keyboards, guitar, vocal, John Sanders –
bass, Sasha Landes-drums) into a four piece unit (Grandinetti,
Sanders, and Neal Richter- drums & Bo Winterburn- guitar
(both under 18). This from of Gypsy Joy Ride played many shows
on the Olympic Peninsula and Seattle and included at different
times background singers, a four piece horn section, several
guest horns, rappers, turntables, conga players and several
guitarists.
During
this time Grandinetti’s teaching increased as he staged
many successful student shows which gained him local attention
and a front page article in December 2003 in the Port Townsend
Leader calling him “Stevie
G. – Port Townsend’s own School of Rock.”
In the summer of 2003 on the suggestion of a student’s
mom to play a party on the beach with some of my students
as his band, Gypsy Joy Ride became the band it is today with
that lady’s daughter Lora White (16) on Bass Guitar,
Ezekial ‘Zeke’ Wakefield (16) on guitar, and Conor
Sisk (13) on drums, and the chemistry has never been better.
Gypsy
Joy Ride continues to play fun music for dancers and listeners
alike.
